USD 358 will develop a plan to maintain and upgrade facilities, physical plant, and transportation to ensure structures and conditions are in place to promote a safe and orderly learning environment for all students and staff.
USD 358 will develop a comprehensive structure for the implementation of the college and career readiness standards and individual plans of study aligned with resources to prepare all students to be successful graduates.
USD 358 will continue to expand professional development opportunities to meet individual teacher needs to increase student achievement.
USD 358 Board of Education
The Board of Education is composed of seven members elected from three districts and one member at large. The primary function of the School Board is legislative and judicial rather than executive. The Superintendent is responsible for the efficient administration and supervision of the schools. Individual members of the Board shall exercise no authority. The work of the Board falls into three main areas:
Employment of a qualified Superintendent.
Development of policy.
To see that policies are carried out by administration to the benefit of the school system.
As a public official, a school board member must not only do what is required by law, but because of the special trust with which they are charged by the community, must observe the ethics of that public office. The Board of Education, desiring to operate in the most ethical and conscientious manner possible, adheres to a code of ethics.
Board meetings are are open to the public and held the second Monday of each month at 7pm.

If anyone from the general public audience wishes to speak to the Board of Education, they are to give their name, address, and agenda item to the Clerk (Jane Hamilton). The Board President will select the time for them to speak, either during Visitors’ Comments or before or after the Board Discussion and prior to Board action of an agenda item. Anyone speaking to the Board of Education is allotted 3-5 minutes.
