Oxford schools continue to think outside of the box when it comes to education. Innovative practices involving Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics drive learning. This year, this district was awarded a $25,000.00 grant through The America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education Program, sponsored by Monsanto. Each year Monsanto partners with farmers to make a difference in their local communities and to promote STEM education.
Oxford USD 358 will use the grant to support instruction in the areas of recycling, renewable energy, and robotics. The elementary school purchased a recycling trailer with part of the funds. Intermediate, Junior High, and High School students will work with a new robotics system called FarmBot to integrate technology and agriculture in the school greenhouse. Students in the High School physics class will partner with NAVY educators to work with the district’s new SeaPerch robotics systems. Finally, monies will also be targeted for instruction focused on renewable energy, specifically in the area of solar power.
Monsanto Rep, Chad Mueller, presented the district with our check and award during half-time of the Homecoming football game last Friday. We appreciate this gift! Thank you to Monsanto and all area farmers who nominated our school. #GrowRuralEd ... See MoreSee Less
